White Mountain, The Northern Approach
Cromu's POV
I had climbed higher than my heavy boots usually cared to carry me, all to get a clear view of the bleeding mess unfolding below. From this high, jagged ridge, the white snowy mountain looked exactly like a gutted beast, leaking its black life out onto the pristine mountain snow.
Three jagged openings along the northern face glowed with a faint, sickly green where the old volcanic vents had sat dormant for longer than any grunt remembered. But it wasn't lava creeping out of them tonight. It was a thin, oily thread of grey mist that caught the violet moonlight, twisting into shapes no natural vapor should ever mimic.
