Chapter 77 - Chapter 77 — Strings in the Shadows

Daniel leaned back in his chair, expression unreadable as he watched the surveillance feed flicker onto the screen. Clara was in her office, calm as ever, sipping coffee while reviewing a stack of reports.

A perfect employee.A perfect actress.

"Activating microphone access," Leo muttered beside him. He toggled a few keys, and Clara's soft hums filled the speakers.

Leo shot Daniel a glance. "You really think she'll slip?"

Daniel's gaze remained fixed. "Everyone slips eventually."

Meanwhile — Upstairs with Sara

Sara sat by the wide glass window of her office, flipping through her schedule. "Clara, I've decided I want to start a charity program in Mom's name. Something for women who feel… abandoned."

Clara blinked — the hesitation was brief, but noticeable.

Then she smiled warmly. "That's beautiful, Sara. I'll draft the official proposal."

Sara's face softened. She really is the only person I can rely on here…

As Clara walked away, Sara's phone buzzed.

Daniel:Don't trust anyone fully. Not yet.

Sara frowned. She typed back:What's going on?

No reply.

She exhaled. Daniel and his overprotective instincts…

Back in Clara's Office — A Message Arrives

Clara closed her door quietly. Her polished smile faded.

She unlocked her private phone — not the company one.

Unknown Sender — Secure Channel Active

"Progress?"

Clara's eyes hardened.

She typed quickly:

"Foundation documents forwarded. But she's growing suspicious."

"Good. Push her further. Make her vulnerable. When she breaks, we take everything."

Clara's fingers paused. A flicker of guilt crossed her face — barely there, gone in seconds.

Another message buzzed from the sender.

"And remember... If you fail, you know the consequences."

Clara inhaled shakily.

Then her expression turned cold.

"I don't fail."

Surveillance Room

Leo stared at the transcript as it decoded on-screen. His eyes widened.

"…She is communicating with someone."

Daniel's jaw tightened.

"Record everything. But don't intervene yet."

Leo frowned. "Why wait?"

Daniel's voice was low and controlled.

"Because now… I want to know who she's working for."
