Chapter 14: Departure & Gentle Vows – The Last Ramen Bowl and the Portal Home
The village healed faster than anyone expected.
Within a week, most of the structural damage from the invasion was repaired—wooden beams replaced, roofs re-thatched, streets swept clean. The new Hokage—Tsunade, summoned back by Jiraiya's stubborn insistence—was already barking orders from the rebuilt tower, her presence alone enough to steady the shaken morale.
Team 7 trained harder than ever. Naruto's Rasengan grew more stable with every frustrated yell. Sasuke's Sharingan spun faster, colder. Sakura buried herself in medical ninjutsu scrolls, determined never to feel helpless again.

Hinata ducked her head shyly. "Yes, please."
They sat side by side, bowls steaming in front of them.
Zain took a deep breath.
"Hinata… there's something I need to tell you. All of it."

Hinata listened without interrupting, lavender eyes steady.
When he finished, she was quiet for a long moment.

Zain exhaled in relief.
"And… I still want to go with you."
His heart stuttered.
"But your family? The clan? Naruto? Konoha?"
Hinata looked down at her ramen, then back up at him.
"My father… respects strength now. After the invasion, he saw what I can do. He told me I've earned the right to choose my path." She smiled faintly. "And Naruto-kun… he's important to me. But the way I feel about him is… admiration. Gratitude. The way I feel about you is different. It's… love."
She reached across and covered his hand with hers.
"I want to see those other worlds. I want to grow stronger beside you. I want… a future where I'm not just the shy Hyuga girl. Where I can be your partner. Your equal."
Zain's eyes stung.
He turned his hand palm-up, lacing their fingers.
"Then come with me. When the portal opens, be there. I'll pay the cost. You'll become a Player too—your own interface, your own powers. And we'll build something incredible together."
Hinata nodded, tears finally slipping free—but happy ones.
"I will."
They finished their ramen in peaceful silence after that, shoulders touching, pinkies linked.
Later, they met Lirael and Toren at the memorial stone—Hiruzen's name freshly carved.
Lirael raised an elegant brow at their joined hands. "So it's official."
Toren grinned. "Took you long enough, sunshine."
Hinata bowed deeply to both. "Thank you… for accepting me."
Lirael placed a cool hand on Hinata's shoulder. "You're family now. Welcome."
Toren clapped Hinata gently on the back. "Anyone who can keep this guy in line is alright by me."
They spent the afternoon training one last time—Prism Vanguard plus Hinata.

She looked at him with shining eyes. "It feels… warm. Like you."
Zain pulled her into a hug—right there in the training ground, uncaring who saw.

Night fell.
They gathered at the extraction point—a quiet hill overlooking the village, the same one where they'd first arrived.

Zain turned to Hinata one last time.

She stepped forward, hand in his.
"Together."
