Lex sat at the dinner table wearing a white button-up shirt and a pair of black pants. He sipped his coffee as he looked at a news article, The Daily Planet. The place wasn't what it would be in the future, Lex was wondering if he should buy it sooner. Being able to control what information is fed to the public would be nice. Everything was changing so fast, just an hour ago everything was foggy and he had no idea what this world held for him. Now, with each passing minute, new memories came, like the fact that he would eventually buy the Daily Planet. There was more though and his brain didn't seem to mind the influx of information breaking it down and deciding the best course of action with each new piece of information.
"Anything interesting in there," Lana's voice followed by her hand on his shoulder and a kiss on his cheek.
Lex smiled before shaking his head, "Unless you care about football, the metropolis sharks have once again failed to make the playoffs." wasn't it Whitney that had once wished to play for the sharks, he was another unfortunate casualty in the list of men that had dated Lana before Clark eventually fell for Lois.
"May be time to cut your losses," Lana said with a smile on her face.
"Indeed," Lex said as he took another sip of his coffee. "So any plans for today?" Lex asked looking up at Lana.
"Actually, I'm going to meet Chloe at the apartment, grab a few things, and we might do lunch."
"Well, tell Chloe I said hi, you two have fun. I think it's good you're going out more, have fun with your friends." He hadn't liked Chloe much, they had risked their lives to send his father to prison but that seemed to matter little, people like Chloe wanted the truth to her Lex was just another hit piece.
"We most definitely will," Lana laughed before nudging Lex's arm. " What about you, any plans?"
"I have a meeting in Metropolis, I won't be back until later. We can do dinner, you can even invite Chloe if you want," Lex said, surprising Lana. Lex may have simply been another hit piece but Chloe was a pretty important piece on the board, she was best friends with both Clark and Lana. Being on speaking terms with her was more of an advantage rather than a disadvantage.
"You sure?" Lana asked wide-eyed.
"Why not, have the chef cook whatever you like."
"Alright, I'm headed out, " Lana quickly placed a kiss on Lex's lips before exiting the dining room.
It had been a bumpy road for Lex and Lana since Brainiac had released the spirit of Zod. Lex pondered the side effects of such a descent. Jor-el had used Lionel's body as a vessel and he was changed forever. Only Lex wasn't the only one worried about such side effects.
Just last week he had been kidnapped, financed by none other than Oliver Queen. He had been walking on eggshells wondering who had scheduled such a thing but with Alex's memories, every question seemed to have an answer. He would run the appropriate tests at a later date for now he had a doctor to meet with.
…
Atop of Luthorcorp, a helicopter landed, the wind from the blades made hearing anything else impossible. Lex stepped from the helicopter his suit jacket flowing in the wind. Entering the elevator he pressed the button to his floor. It didn't take long with his office being on the highest floor possible.
Walking towards his office he locked eyes with his secretary. She had brown hair with blue eyes, and she wore a maroon suit that hit her body. Glasses and red lipstick, had Lex not been with Lana maybe he would have been interested. But now she was simply a sack of human flesh.
"Is the good doctor in yet?" He asked stopping next to her desk.
"No but he called he'll be here in 5," Lex nodded continuing towards his office doors.
"Sir you do have a visitor," She said as Lex paused turning to look at her.
"I don't remember any meetings scheduled before the doctor," confusion on his face.
"It's your father, I wanted to stop him but-" she wanted to continue but was cut off by Lex.
"It's fine I'll deal with him." Turning back to his office doors he pushed lightly.
"Ahh so you've finally decided to come into work, you're not still feeling weird are you?" Lionel Luthor wore a lavish blue suit, in his left hand was a newspaper while in his right rested an apple. He sat leg over the other on Lex's black couch, judging by the tone in his voice he already knew the answer.
"I'm feeling fine dad, mind telling me why you're here in my office, yours is two floors down. You'd think after begging me for a place in Luthor Corp, you'd spend your time in your own office." Lex no longer minded his father, Alex hadn't had a father, maybe that made him yearn for a connection to his own. Sure his father started off as a dick, but this lionel right here was different, there was a bit of light threatening to destroy the specks of darkness that filled his soul. He had made a decision, a decision to do good, one that Lex hoped he would make himself very soon.
"You seem different today, must be that lang girl," How did I not see this coming?
"I can promise you it had nothing to do with Lana," Lex said as he walked over to his desk taking a seat behind it.
"You're right, I doubt she could do much to change what you've already become," Lionel said, standing from the couch, walking over to Lex's desk, looking down at his son. "Especially if you're meeting with the good doctor." There was a hint of disappointment in his voice as he looked down at his son.
Lex chuckled a bit as he looked up at his father, "The good doctor will be here soon, feel free to sit in on my meeting with him. You might as well, but I don't think it will matter you've already made your assumptions." It was funny; it was obvious that Lionel wanted Lex to be different, but his own judgment tended to get the best of him. He saw Lex for what he was and knew nothing short of divine intervention would change him. Only he wasn't aware that divine intervention had already happened. The current Lex was completely different from any Lex Lionel himself could ever foresee his son becoming.
"I don't think I will but listen to me closely Lex, If you're gonna do what I think you're gonna do to that girl be prepared to lose her. It's a temporary answer for a long-term problem. We both know those don't tend to end too well."
"Thank you for the advice father, now if there's nothing else. I need to get ready for my meeting, we should do this again soon only next time I'll be the one waiting in your office." Lionel raised an eyebrow at that but didn't pay much attention to it as he turned and left the office.
Picking up the phone from his desk Lex pressed a number, "Is the doctor here?" Lex asked.
"He's here," Lex heard through the other end of the phone.
"Send him in."
Lex waited patiently and soon the doctor entered the office briefcase in hand.
"Hello doctor," Lex said as he pointed towards the seat across from his desk.
"Mr.Luthor, look what you're asking me-" Lex raised his hand cutting off the doctor.
"Skipping straight to business are we? Well, it doesn't matter, I'm no longer in need of your services. You signed an NDA, so you're aware of what I can do to you if you decide to tell anyone about our phone call. You'll still be paid for me wasting your time, now if you'll excuse me my secretary will escort you to the first floor."
The doctor seemed stunned but knowing he would still be paid made up for that. Standing up, he looked at Lex, wanting to say something, but in the end kept his mouth shut.
Seeing his office door shut Lex sighed, the reason he had called that doctor was to fake Lana's pregnancy but there was no point in doing that now. Doing so would have been stupid, a fake pregnancy? Lex was desperate when he came up with such a plan and now he had a new perspective. He wasn't even sure if Lana was worth all the trouble, she was beautiful and kind not to mention smart but her heart. Her heart didn't solely belong to him and that was a problem. What happens when Clark finds out she's pregnant and decides to listen to the baby's heartbeat? Clark wouldn't tell Lana himself, but eventually, he would find a way to let her know.
Speaking of Clark it currently wasn't smart to be his enemy, Lex was a regular human. Did he have increased immunity yes, but that wasn't nearly enough to defeat Superman. There were so many enemies eyeing his back. Shaking his head Lex rubbed his forehead. Eventually, Lana would find out that Clark was superman and like every rom com movie ever she would go running into his arms.
For now he would enjoy her company but when she decided to leave he wouldn't hold her back. For now though he needed to do some damage control, being taken over by Zod had led most people to believe he was a god with evil intentions. Lex had planned a charity ball and he had the perfect person to look after it.
