Chapter Zero
I was walking home from school when I saw a cute boy from Class 9A. I noticed him at the store, and since he had missed school that day, I decided to work up the courage to talk to him. My excuse was simple: I would give him my notes.
Although we weren't in the same class, we often bumped into each other in the hallways. With the help of my best friend, who was in Class 9A, we had gotten to know each other a little.
But just as I got close to him, something strange happened.
A half-faded circle appeared out of nowhere. My vision blurred, and suddenly my life flashed before my eyes.
Then everything went dark.
When I awoke, I was greeted by a friendly face—calm, kind, and completely unfamiliar.
I was sixteen, and I played a lot of games, so I thought I'd seen just about everything. Still, nothing could have prepared me for what stood before me.
It was a beastman.
I considered myself pretty tall at five foot five, but this beastman had to be at least five foot ten. She had three children playing in the background, their laughter echoing softly around us. Her hair was a deep brown with black tips, and despite her intimidating appearance, there was something gentle about her presence.
