The dense fog shook violently, and the rain seemed to roll backward.
Under that chain of firelight forged by converging bullets, everything was torn apart with ease. Then, the emaciated shadow in the midst of the rain and fog was swallowed by the firelight.
In the blink of an eye, it was riddled with holes.
A gust of wind swept by, carrying the remnants high into the sky. They drifted in the rain, leaving only tattered fragments of a raincoat falling to the ground. Yet, there was no sign of a person.
It was as if that shadow had indeed been a phantom conjured by a ghost, vanishing after a mere gust of wind.
"Where is he?"
The mercenary operating the machine gun, a cigarette dangling from his lips, looked around in astonishment.
