Big Beard's real name was Pamos, imprisoned in Kandam Prison a whole era ago for the crime of massacre.
According to him, his fiancée was from a collateral line of a certain family, and not long after their engagement, a direct descendant from another family took a liking to her. Consequently, her family went back on their word and forcibly married her off to that family descendant.
After the marriage, that family descendant abused her day after day, and one day he hit her too hard and beat her to death. He then publicly claimed she died of illness, and her body was disposed of early, making it impossible to investigate the true cause of death. Not long after, that family descendant married another woman, without even attending the funeral.
