Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Terracotta Army currently has three pits excavated.
The first pit contains a mixed array of infantry and chariot soldiers, surrounded by a corridor, with guarding troops at the eastern and western ends and defensive formations along the northern and southern sides. In the middle are nine passages, each with four longitudinal rows of soldiers and chariots intermixed, forming the main body.
The second pit, located 20 meters to the north of the eastern end of the first pit, covers an area of more than 6,000 square meters and includes a mixed array of infantry, chariot soldiers, and cavalry. The layout of the pit is relatively complex, divided into eastern and western zones.
