[Beast Dungeon]
With Shun handling the evolved mutated cockroaches, the other adventurers then took care of the other mutated cockroaches until the monster themselves had finally flee from them.
The moment they chose to flee Shun had already cut down the numbers of the evolved mutated cockroach down to 3. With such overwhelming difference, the monster chose survival over victory.
However the adventurers weren't left unscathed as many of their members were also eliminated and ejected out of the dungeon. Right now only a total of 32 adventurers were left standing and surviving in this double dungeon.
Once everyone recovered and regrouped, everyone then headed deeper into the dungeon and soon reached the deepest layer of the dungeon.
In this place not only does the atmosphere feel heavy due to the pressure of earth that burrowed the dungeon underneath its weight, but also the air inside feels somewhat refreshing and cool compared to other areas in the dungeon.
It was as if they were teleported in the middle of a grass field. It was so refreshing which only made everyone wary. After all this type of phenomenon was unusual and in the adventurers guidebook, anything unusual is not a good thing at all.
It was especially quiet to the point that everyone wondered whether another mutated monster would appear. However contrary to their expression, there was none.
Once the reached the very bottom of the lowest layer, all they see was a huge jagged crater formed around for what seems like a flat land in the center.
What's more inside that flat circle is none other than a monster that looks like a beast man in his morphed form. To be exact it is a white tiger with a lions hair and is wearing a tattered jeans usually worn by humans.
"What... what is that?"
"Is that a hybrid? Chimera?"
Amidst this questions, not one of them dared to drop their guard against such odd looking monster. But despite their arrival, the monster itself never bothered to attack them at all.
Due to that many adventurers were anxious.
"Is this some kind of tactic? Can someone try and taunt that monster? Since this is the deepest layer then once we subjugate that monster, we would be able to clear this dungeon"
"Are you crazy? Why don't you try instead since your brave enough to suggest that?"
"Based on this area, this must be a boss domain, so we can't afford to be careless just because the boss acts weird"
In that moment while everyone was talking about this situation about themselves, the boss finally reacted and did something none of us had ever expected, the monster had talked.
"Enough with your quibbles, there is nothing to fear... clearing this stage is pretty easy, you just have to enter this circle and defeat me in combat... but let me warn you that the moment you entered this circle, no weapons nor spells are allowed... if you want to defeat me, then you'll have to rely in your combat skills, techniques, and original status.... a battle for honor without any of that magecraft nonsense"
"!!!"
"Of course when your not pure human, you can use the natural trait of your species since that too is not considered skills. Aside from that this boss battle will be purely fought in hand to hand combat and martial prowess... same rules can be applied to me, so have no fear to challenge me"
The moment everyone heard the monsters words, each and every single one of them were speechless. But for Shun he simply looked calm as if this kind of phenomenon was normal. After all back in his world boss monsters in game usually have dialogue to showcase their hostility, meaning monster can actually understand human language.
So with that this was the first time for Shun to actually witness such phenomenon which somehow excites him to the point he thinks that this is normal.
But aside from him, no one thought the same.
"D-did the monster just talked"
"Ahhh! What the heck? No one ever told me about this"
"How is this possible? Is it an evolved monster much more advanced than those cockroaches?"
"What do we do now?"
At the same time Sephiria tugged at Shun's sleeves in worry.
"Shun... what's happening?"
In response to her worries, Shun simply grabbed her hand and assured her that everything was fine.
At the same time some other experienced adventurers simply got shocked for a few seconds, before they started deliberating on the monsters words.
"Wait! Then is the boss battle just a trial for combat? No hidden tactics or tricks? Well this is ordinary"
"Ordinary? This is no means ordinary, didn't you hear the rules? No weapons or magic, meaning if we want to fight that monster, then we would have to fight it bare handed, and that is basically asking us to fight that monster naked which is suicide"
"No maybe we do have a chance, hear me out, some of us are quite proficient in hand to hand especially the brawlers, if by chance the monster did follow his own rules, then the brawlers themselves can win the fight... like come on the boss monster is a beast and as beast the only hand to hand combat they know are hack and slash... we got the upperhand in techniques"
"Wait! Your right! Why not let the brawlers try first? It's not like it's a total wipe out right?"
As various adventurers kept giving their own opinions, the monster then growled in displeasure.
"What are you waiting for? Are you guys too scared to fight a mere beast? I thought that you guys are warriors for reaching this deep of a depth inside the dungeon, but I guess i was mistaken... there are no warriors among you"
Hearing that type of cheap taunt, the other adventurers simply smirked at it, while 4 brawlers finally stepped up to fight the monster.
Of course with no one having any other proper solution, everyone then agreed on the spot and let the 4 adventurer stepped into the circle which can also be considered a stage.
Once the 4 brawlers entered the circle, a barrier suddenly surrounded the whole crater and pushed out anyone that isn't participating in this battle and prevent from any outside interference.
Once the barrier was put up, the monster finally stood up and introduced himself.
"Finally... greetings warriors, You can call me King... I rule this deep dungeon you currently stepping on"
"Hoh... a monster who has a name, this is a first" Brawler 1
"And to name yourself as king, quite arrogant aren't you" Brawler 2
"Let's just get this on already, I'm itching for some action" Brawler 3
"Also let me inform you, us adventurers knows who our king is, but despite knowing him, we do not pledge our loyalty towards him... after all adventurers are free people" Brawler 4
Hearing that King then spoke.
"I see.. like a parasite then"
"What?!?!" Brawler 4
"Nevermind, since you informed me of such, then let me also inform you something I had withheld... you lot will only have 10 chances of sending a warrior to defeat me in my arena... but if your chosen warrior fails to defeat me, then I have no choice but to wipe out all of you"
