Chapter 65 - paid chapter 33 of a good book

Jacob and the girls were having lunch in the school cafeteria when Scott joined them alone.

Lydia looked at him and said. "Where is your sarcastic half?"

Scott put his tray on the table and sat down. "He's with his girlfriend."

Allison's eyebrows shot up. "Girlfriend? Since when does he have a girlfriend?"

"Since yesterday."

"Who is she?" Lydia asked.

Scott glanced at Jacob. "Erica. Erica Reyes. It was Jacob who told him to ask her out."

Allison looked at Jacob. "You know Erica has epilepsy, right?"

"I know." Jacob said. "But we can heal her by turning her into a werewolf, if she wants the bite, of course. For now, let's see how things go between her and Stiles."

"But you said the bite can turn people or kill them." Allison said. "What if she dies after taking the bite?"

Jacob shrugged. "We'll tell her the risks, and she can make her own choice whether to take the bite or not."

"Well, I hope things work out between her and Stiles and that she can be healed." Allison said.

Jacob turned his attention to Scott. "And what about you? Did you find a girlfriend?"

Scott sighed. "No, I don't think I'll find one in our school. All the girls here have eyes only for you."

Jacob smirked. "Sorry for being too handsome."

Allison and Lydia looked around the cafeteria and saw most of the girls indeed glancing at Jacob. They just shook their heads; they were used to it.

Scott sighed in frustration and kept eating his food.

"By the way, Scott." Jacob said. "Did you help Jackson get the bite?"

"Not yet. Peter seems pissed these days, so I'll wait a few more days."

"I see." Jacob replied.

They finished their lunch while talking and then went back to class.

---

After school ended, they gathered in front of the school gate.

"Jay, let's go shopping." Lydia said.

Jacob quickly shook his head. "Sorry, can't come with you. Stiles needs me for something."

Stiles, who was confused, was about to deny it, but a sharp glare from Jacob made him change his tune. "Yeah... I-I need his help with something." He stammered.

Lydia narrowed her eyes at Stiles. "What thing?"

Stiles started sweating, but Jacob cut in. "Okay, see you girls at home." He then looked at Cogman, who was waiting by the car. "Cogman, go with them shopping."

He then dragged Stiles toward his Jeep. "Let's go, hurry!"

Lydia called after him. "Jay, come back here!"

Stiles was about to turn around, but Jacob stopped him. "Don't look back, just keep going."

"But she's calling you." Stiles said.

"No, she's not. Let's leave quickly."

They got into the Jeep, Scott followed them, and Stiles drove away.

Lydia stamped her foot. "Damn it, he ran away."

Allison smiled. "Let him be. We can't always drag him shopping with us."

Lydia pouted. "I know, but I like it when he goes shopping with us. I love how miserable he looks."

Allison smiled and linked her arm with Lydia's, dragging her toward the car. "Let's go. Since I moved in with Jay, I need to buy a lot of stuff."

Lydia forgot about Jacob and grinned. "And since Jay is so rich, let's buy some expensive bags and clothes."

"Sure." Allison agreed.

They got into the Rolls-Royce, and Cogman drove away.

---

In Stiles' Jeep...

Stiles looked at Jacob through the rearview mirror. "Why are you running from your girlfriends?"

"Because I don't want to go shopping with them." Jacob said. "You'll understand when you go shopping with Erica. By the way, how are things going between you and her?"

"Good." Stiles said, a smile touching his lips. "She's a nice girl, a bit shy, but she's nice to be around. I think I like her."

"Good for you." Jacob said. "Wait until Derek becomes the alpha, and I'll ask him to give her the bite. I'd order Peter to do it, but I don't trust that idiot. He might control her to kill or something after he turns her."

"Yeah, let's keep Peter away from her." Stiles agreed. "But are you sure Derek will become the alpha?"

"Probably. Peter and Allison's family are going to fight eventually, and if Allison gets involved, I'll have to get involved too. Peter might end up beaten again, and Derek will definitely take advantage of that."

"I'm not in a hurry to turn Erica." Stiles said. "We just started dating yesterday."

Scott, who was girlfriend-less and annoyed, changed the subject. "Stiles, drive me to the animal clinic."

"Oh, alright." Stiles said, changing direction.

Jacob then told them about his fight with the wizard and the hunters. When he finished, they both stared at him with wide eyes.

Jacob raised a brow. "What's wrong with you idiots? I know I'm handsome, but if you keep staring at me like that, I'll get shy. And Stiles, you're going to crash the car!"

Sties snapped back to his senses and focused on the road. "Did you really kill them all?"

"Yes, I did." Jacob said flatly. "They came to kill me, Stiles, so I killed them. And didn't you hear what I said about their dark memories?"

Scott sighed. "Was that wizard strong?"

"To me, no." Jacob said. "But to you guys, he was very strong. He could kill someone as strong as Peter with ease."

Stiles shuddered. "That's scary to think about."

Soon, they arrived at the animal clinic and went inside with Scott.

Deaton came out of his office when he heard them enter. "Oh, it's just you, Scott. I thought it was some..."

He froze as his eyes landed on Jacob. He could feel the terrifying amount of magical energy radiating from him.

Jacob clicked his tongue in annoyance, thinking. 'I hope I can get a reward from the system that can hide the energy inside me.'

Scott waved a hand in front of Deaton's face. "Hey, Doc, what's wrong? Why are you looking at Jacob like that?"

Deaton snapped back to his senses. "Oh, nothing. Who is your new friend?"

"His name is Jacob." Scott said. "He just moved into town about a month ago."

Deaton was staring at Jacob absently again. "Oh, is that so?"

Jacob hid behind Stiles. "Stiles, let's get out of here. I think Scott's boss has some weird interest in me. Maybe he likes handsome boys."

Stiles burst out laughing. Deaton snapped back to reality and gave an awkward smile. "Relax, kid. I like women—older women. I have no interest in men."

Then Deaton extended his hand to Jacob. "Sorry if I was rude. I'm Alan Deaton. Nice to meet you."

Jacob didn't shake his hand. "Nah, I'm not shaking your hand. You're creeping me out. Good night, Scott."

He then dragged a still-laughing Stiles out of the clinic.

Deaton scratched his bald head. "Sorry, Scott. I seem to have scared your friend."

Scott shrugged. "Don't worry about Jacob. He's a narcissistic weirdo."

---

In Stiles' Jeep...

Stiles, who was driving and still chuckling, said. "It seems Scott's boss is very interested in you, huh?"

Jacob snorted. "That man isn't a normal human, Stiles. He probably sensed my power; that's why he was looking at me like that."

Stiles stopped laughing immediately. "Is he supernatural? Is Scott in danger?"

"Scott isn't in danger." Jacob assured him. "And if I'm not wrong, that man should be a druid. I don't know if druids are considered supernatural creatures, but they can use magic by borrowing power from nature. They're also healers for supernatural creatures and usually serve as advisors to wolf packs or something like that."

"But are they evil or not?" Stiles pressed.

"No, they're usually not evil. Typically, they're peace-loving people who seek balance between the supernatural world and the normal one. But there are evil druids; they're called Darachs. And when I say evil, I mean human sacrifices and dark magic evil."

Stiles's eyes widened. "What? Then how do you know Scott's boss isn't a Darach?"

"If he were a Darach, I would have felt it the moment I saw him." Jacob said confidently. "Anyway, you don't have to worry; he's not one. And if you want to know more, you should read the Bestiary on the phone I gave you. Tell Scott to read it, too. The knowledge in it could save your lives."

"I'll read it." Stiles promised. "And speaking of that phone, I love it."

"Well, it was made by Cogman, after all." Jacob said.

"So, where do you want to go?" Stiles asked. "Should I drop you off at home?"

"No. How about we go to an arcade and play for a while?"

Stiles grinned. "That sounds like a plan. I'm in!"

He drove to an arcade, and they spent the next hour playing Pac-Man, pinball, and racing against each other in simulators.
