Chapter 30 - A Parent-Child Talk

As Seo-Yeon calmed down, Dunha began to take a deep breath.

"*Sigh* I thought I was going to die again..." Dunha thought.

When Seo-Yeon released a terrifying aura towards the assassin, she unintentionally affected the people around her, including the children, and nearly caused them to suffocate. Fortunately, Henry was able to calm Seo-Yeon down which allowed everyone else to breathe again.

Dunha then approached her parents who were still embracing each other.

"Mama," said Dunha as she poked her mother's leg.

"Dunha! Are you alright?" Seo-Yeon asked after letting go of Henry.

Seo-Yeon then crouched down and began to search Dunha's body for wounds.

"No, mama. I'm okay," said Dunha.

"I'm glad to hear that," said Seo-Yeon as she sighed in relief. "How about you, Lily?"

Lily nodded as her eyes sparkled.

"Dunha was amazing!" Lily shouted as she jumped up and down with excitement.

Lily's excitement confused Henry and Seo-Yeon.

"Hm? What do you mean?" Henry asked.

"Wait, Lily..." said Dunha.

Dunha attempted to cover Lily's mouth but it was too late.

"When that creepy man tackled the guard and tried to kill him, Dunha came to the rescue from behind and stabbed his leg!" said Lily with the most innocent smile.

Seo-Yeon and Henry continued to carefully listen to Lily while Dunha hid her face in embarrassment.

"The man then tried to go after Dunha but that's when the guard grabbed his club-thingy and started hitting him with it! That's also when Dunha covered my eyes and made me missed everything..." said Lily as she sulked near the end.

After listening to the full story, Seo-Yeon turned her head around and smiled at Dunha who was trying to quietly exit the library.

"Dunha? Where are you going?" Seo-Yeon asked.

Although Dunha was initially intimidated by her mother's smile she managed to stay calm.

"Ha... I guess I can't lie my way out of this..." Dunha thought.

She then turned around.

"I had no choice..." Dunha murmured.

Before Dunha's mother or father could respond, she continued to speak.

"If I didn't stab him first, he would've killed my guard," said Dunha. "If I had to do it again to protect my friends and family, then I would do it again."

"..."

Dunha noticed that everyone in the room was quietly looking at her with a surprised expression. It was then that Henry began to walk towards Dunha.

"Hm?" (Dunha)

Henry then patted Dunha on the head as he smiled. This confused Dunha.

"You made the right choice, Dunha," said Henry.

"Huh?" (Dunha)

"Your papa's right. To survive, you must do whatever it takes," said Seo-Yeon as she hugged Dunha.

Dunha looked at her parents, confused.

"I thought you would be mad at me for doing something dangerous?" Dunha asked.

Seo-Yeon chuckled.

"Dunha... My sweet little muffin... Why would we be mad at you for doing something you had to do?" Seo-Yeon asked.

"Hm? Did she call me a muffin again? Why is she keep calling me a muffin?" Dunha wondered.

Blue laughed as he was impressed by Dunha.

"Don't worry, little one. If anyone else was in your position, they would've all done the same to survive," said Blue as he laughed.

Seo-Yeon's smile then began to fade away as she looked at Dunha with a serious expression.

"I wanted to tell you this when you grew older but after seeing this, I guess we should tell you now," said Seo-Yeon.

Seo-Yeon and Henry looked at each other and nodded.

"Dunha, my precious child... You should know that the outside world can sometimes be a frightening place," said Seo-Yeon before briefly pausing.

Seo-Yeon bit her lip before she continued to talk.

"I'll honest with you... This will probably not be the last time you'll see someone trying to kill you or someone near you," said Seo-Yeon with a sad expression.

As Seo-Yeon finished talking, Henry began to crouch down to talk to Dunha as well.

"We'll try our best to keep you safe but since the world can be very unpredictable, you may encounter a situation like this again..." said Henry.

Under normal circumstances, this would've scared her, however, thanks to her memories of her first life, she was able to keep her composure.

"You don't have to worry about that..." Dunha thought. "I already know what the world can be capable of. Fortunately, I'm not a naive fool anymore."

Once Henry finished talking, Seo-Yeon began to speak again.

"What we're trying to say is that... Dunha, do you want to start learning how to defend yourself?" Seo-Yeon asked.

"Normally, we would've asked you this much later but after this dangerous encounter, I think it'll be better for us to ask you right now," said Henry.

"I agree, papa," said Dunha.

"I know this is difficult to understand bu... Wait, what?" said Henry before pausing.

"I think it's a good idea but I'll only agree if you let Blue train me," said Dunha as she smiled. "He promised to train me when the time was right."

"He did?" Seo-Yeon asked as she looked surprised.

Seo-Yeon then turned around and gave Blue a stern look.

"That's right. I said I'll teach her how to fight when the right time comes," said Blue.

"I suppose Blue would be the most suitable teacher," said Henry.

Seo-Yeon sighed.

"Ha... You're right," Seo-Yeon replied. "It seems like Dunha likes you."

Dunha began to smile as she watched Blue laugh while her father looked somewhat disturbed. She then looked at her mother.

"Does that mean I'll start my training tomorrow?" Dunha asked.

"Of course not," Said Seo-Yeon. "You can start your training once the winter season ends."

"Ok..." Dunha mumbled as she tried to hold back her excitement. "I can't believe that it would be this easy to convince my parents to let Blue train me," she thought.

Dunha began to remember the times when her father tried to constantly convince her to change her mind about becoming a soldier which caused her to argued with him often.

"Haha... Those were the good times..." Dunha thought.

She then began to look sad as she remembered her last words to him before his unpleasant death.

"Papa..." Dunha murmured.

"Hm? What is it, Dunha?" Henry asked.

Dunha slowly walked towards her father before hugging him.

"I'm sorry, papa..." Dunha whispered. "For everything..."

"What are you sorry about..." Henry asked as he gently stroked Dunha's head.

"I... I..." (Dunha)

"Dunha?" said Henry.

Suddenly, Dunha began to feel dizzy as her vision began to become more and more blurry.

"Dunha? Dunha!" Henry shouted.

Everyone was surprised when they noticed Dunha starting to lose her balance.

"What's wrong with her?!" Blue asked as he ran towards Henry and Dunha.

"Dunha!" Seo-Yeon shouted while panicking.

"Why am I suddenly feeling tired?" Dunha wondered.

Before Dunha could figure out what was wrong with her, she suddenly collapsed in her father's arms.

Just as she collapsed, a screen appeared in front of Dunha. However, due to losing unconsciousness, she was unable to read the screen.
