Joan Harry felt that the voice sounded a bit familiar and realized she was one of Sylvan Cheney's people.
She restrained her emotions: "I'm fine. Please tell Mr. Cheney I apologize for troubling him..."
At moments like this, she knew what should and shouldn't be said.
Jesse Rowan seemed quite satisfied with her response. The corners of his lips lifted slightly, and his eyes sparkled.
"Miss, interested in grabbing some coffee?" Jesse looked at Lilac Serval.
"Not interested," Lilac declined. "Miss Harry, I'll ask you one more time—do you need my help? If not, I'll have to head out to find someone."
Lilac didn't feel much towards Joan Harry. She only knew that Joan's father, Yacob Harry, had done something despicable to the Cheney Family.
Perhaps this young woman was unaware, but Lilac couldn't force herself to care for Joan Harry.
The only reason she came tonight was because Sylvan Cheney had ordered her to.
She was merely following orders.
