Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The outside was dark and rainy for only being 7in the morning. But daily life still had to go on. People shuffling threw the streets of to work or class.

Evelyn was weaving past the congestion of people and their elements, as fast she could before the first bell. She certainly had to get there in time, another tardy wasn't gonna be acceptable. Evelyn could easily be kicked out of Saint Iris's Elemental School for Girls. But a dorm inside the walls was not included in the scholarship. Which she only got in because of her small yet unique power.

Everyone is born with the power of one of the elements, which by at least your 16th birthday, manifests a small sprite in some form. Evelyn just turning 18 hasn't had one appear and she doesn't possess an affinity for either fire, water, earth, or air. Evelyn could, however, create and control lighting from her fingertips.

This also came with bullying while growing up, and having no Spirit didn't help. The bullying is harsher for also being on scholarship. Evelyn could feel her power grows stronger. Since transferring she has practiced and studied all night, which is why she is late. Being able to actually shoot lighting from her fingers up to 35 feet.

Fate allowed her to be right at the class door before the bell rang. Since she was in a scramble to get there on time Evelyn was soaked from the rain. The class going in laughter at the sight of her. The teacher with a scowl on her face shushed the room with such a force, it felt as if she used her wind.

"Miss Waldgrave I won't give you a tardy this time but the next time I won't be so gracious." Miss Strickland said in a harsh tone. Evelyn felt a wind blow around her helping to wring out the clothes. She knew after the morning meeting she would be cleaning it up.

Walking fast to her seat she tried to block out the low giggles still going.

" I just have to get through until practice. Hopefully, Mr. Durnin will have some pity on me." Evelyn thought to herself fighting the impulse to lay her head down. She didn't dare look over but she knew she was being stared at. Alina and her crew of minions thought she was the queen bee of the school.

Alina was one of the highest-ranking in the elemental control. Only coming in the top five in elemental battles. Evelyn could've passed under her radar but her boyfriend Chad went up to Evelyn on her first day. She even passed him up because she had no time for any relationship. To Alina that didn't seem to matter or stop the pranks, she sets her minions off to make.

Instead, Evelyn focused on the downpour of rain. The sky seems to be almost completely black, the big booming sound of thunder in the distance. It was picking up fast and might just shut down school bit early if it turns for the worse. Evelyn actually enjoyed storms like this her body would sometimes tingle all over from getting close to an actual lighting strike.

Miss Strickland drones on and on about the normal morning announcements. As soon as she is done she rings her little bell letting the class know morning free time has begun before the second bell. She was strict and by the book but did a low her students somewhat of a catch-up period.

Evelyn quickly got up to clean up the puddle that was at the door. While cleaning Alina and her minion's saunter over to gawk at Evelyn. She could already feel their heavy presence behind her.

"Look a maid in training! I didn't know the school was letting us have one in each class." Alina said giving an unfriendly smile that never reached her eyes. The minion's cackle at her remarks adding their own insults along with it. "Better maids should at least not smell!" "You should learn to work faster!"

Evelyn just gritted her teeth trying to pay them no mind. Fighting would definitely get her removed from the school. So far she had managed to keep calm but it was hard when she couldn't get away from them. As soon as all the water was up she went to put everything away but the minions still tagged along. Evelyn could feel the lighting spark at the tips of her fingers. A wind started to whip around her hair without any air current. The minions both had the element of air while Alina had an elemental fire. This is another way they enjoyed torturing her. The fire was too obvious of an attack Alina never used hers while the wind was much easier. She was lucky if either had the power for water cleaning up the puddle would've been much more difficult.

By the time Evelyn had put everything back into the storage closet and was back down the hallway to class, the next bell began to ring. Along with a very loud rumble of thunder followed by the brightness from lighting striking. When she opened the door everyone was focused on the window watching the storm. Another loud boom of thunder echoes through the atmosphere. Evelyn's fingers seeming to twitch before the next streak of lightning brightens the sky.

The crowd doesn't break until Miss Strickland rings her personal bell. Giving the students a warning to get to their seats before the official bell for first class to begin.
