Chapter 11 - Atheas Ring

"I guess I need to explain to you, stupid people." The man then talks.

Legends say this ring was once owned by the demon king himself. It granted him a power so great that he nearly destroyed this entire world. At that time no one was able to stand against him…

"But if it was that strong… why is the ring here now? Shouldn't it still be with the demon king?" One of his subordinates interrupted, confused.

"Can you let me finish?" The boss glared at him, annoyed. The man quickly shut up and nodded.

Of course, heroes eventually rose to stop him. They called themselves the Twelve Holy Warriors, and together they finally defeated the demon king. When they realized his true strength came from the Atheas Ring, they sealed away its power so no one else could use it. They even altered its appearance, making it look like nothing more than a common trinket.

"But now… it's back in its true form."

I noticed his men were still confused, so one asked, "How does the boss even know all this?"

He laughed loudly. "Hahaha! Of course I know… But you don't need to worry about that. What you need to do is pack up all the loot. We're leaving this city soon."

This man clearly knew more about me than anyone so far. Curious, I checked his stats.

The numbers stunned me. I'd never seen anyone over level 20, yet this man's magic stats were insane.

He tried sliding me onto his finger, but just then—knocking echoed from the door. One underling peeked out the window and panicked. "Boss! It's the guardsmen!"

"Damn it. Grab what you can—we're getting out of here!"

They scrambled to collect items, heading for the back door… only to freeze. A knight in full bronze armor blocked the exit.

"I'll give you thieves one chance. Surrender now, and I won't have to kill you." He pointed his sword at Dalyor.

"Ha! A rookie knight in bronze armor thinks he can stop me? Don't make me laugh." Dalyor sneered. "Kill him."

"Yes boss! This weakling knight won't last a second."

Then their bodies twisted grotesquely as screams echoed through the room. Before me stood monsters—real monsters, not like anything I'd imagined from anime. I quickly checked their stats.
