Within the Millennium Mountains Campus of the Virtuous Order of Chunzhen, there were many rooms that allow sacred daughters to practice their four classic arts. One of these was a singing room designed by the greatest voices born to the Order. It was a vast circular room with a domed ceiling, allowing it to harmonize and amplify all sounds produced within.
Right now, a soft voice drifted through the room, a somber melody of longing. This voice conveyed a feeling of sadness but also hope. It was beautiful and distinct, a special voice that would instantly recognizable in a crowd of people. It had a unique style, utterly unmatched in the world.
The owner of this voice was no less exquisite. A simple white dress hung from a physique that only the heavens could bestow. Her legs were so long they seemed to go on forever. Then there were her curves that formed a tantalizing contrast of contours. As she sang soulfully, her chest rose up and down, making her ample breasts tremble from the exertion.
Her eyes were closed, fully engrossed in the moment. This only made her astonishing beauty rise to new, breathtaking heights. She was like fresh flowers blossoming in spring. Her long black hair flowed down her back like a gentle waterfall. Her aura was akin to pure mist in the morning.
Her voice could bring even the more powerful and arrogant immortals to her feet. Her charm could ensnare their hearts so much that they could never leave. If there was a man in her presence right now, the only thought in his mind, the one singular goal of his entire life, would be to take her, ravish her, and make her his forever. At the same time, he would willingly fight for her and gladly die for her.
This was the perfect woman…
Eventually, the song ended and silence returned to the practice room. The singer slowly opened her eyes. Her pure blue eyes roamed around the room until they fell upon her teacher.
"Prioress Xuan, how did I do?" She asked.
The only other person in the room, Prioress of the Virtuous Order of Chunzhen, Immortal Winter Hymn Xuan Xina studied her pupil for a long time before letting out a sigh, "Yifei, I didn't think you would improve so quickly. I have never heard my song sound so good, even from my own lips. If you can sing 'Alone in Winter' against an opponent, you would be able to dull their senses, slow their heartbeat, and even freeze the blood in their veins."
"Thank you, prioress." Long Yifei said and bowed.
"Mmm, your rendition of my 'Reflections Beside an Icy Stream' was also perfect. You are ready to perform it at the end-of-year examinations. I do not doubt that you will achieve top marks. But remember, singing like this under perfect conditions is one thing. You'll have to also be able to perform it under duress and if needed, during a battle."
"Understood. I shall keep practicing."
"Mmm."
As they spoke, a gentle bell rang, signifying the end of the period and their private lesson. Xuan Xina still had more students to teach today so Long Yifei collected herself and prepared to leave.
"Oh, one more thing," Xuan Xina said, "Has your acolyte returned yet?"
"My… acolyte, he has not returned yet." Long Yifei said.
"Hmph," Xuan Xina snorted with displeasure, "It has been over three months. Does he not care about you? Acolytes are allowed to take leave but three months is abnormal. How can he bear to leave your side for so long? It hardly gives the Order confidence."
Long Yifei's expression froze as she held back a retort. She knew why he had to be away for so long, because of the matters with Beast God Sanctum followed by the attack on Thousand Flower City. She didn't blame him at all. But others didn't know that and would often make snide comments about it. She couldn't do anything about it and could only silently bear it. She also couldn't reveal the truth that he was still with her through his soul. Even though it couldn't replace his real self, she felt comforted by his presence and she didn't feel as lonely.
"Prioress Xuan, thank you for today's lesson. I shall take my leave now." She bowed again and headed for the door.
Xuan Xina watched her retreating figure with an unhappy expression.
Long Yifei left the practice room, hoping to get back to her room for some quiet study. Instead, she ran into two people who had been waiting outside. One was a sacred daughter and the other was her acolyte. The sacred daughter was none other than Wei Shuangshuang of the Starry Wei Clan.
At the beginning of the school year, Wei Shuangshuang immediately stood out amongst the sacred daughters due to her background. However, the only person she could not overshadow was Long Yifei. Whether it was in talent or beauty, she fell short in everything. It just so happened that Wei Shuangshuang's specialty was singing. However, despite years of practice in the subject, she still felt inferior to a novice who started singing less than a year ago.
"Oh! Isn't it Sister Long?" Wei Shuangshuang greeted with a fake smile, "Have you met my acolyte before?"
The man, who was graying but still handsome, tilted his head in a slight bow, "Snow Fairy Long, I have long since heard your name. You deserve every bit of your reputation. I am Immortal Hundred Palms Wu Chao, Blue Sky Alchemist of the Undying Medicine Valley."
As he spoke, he emitted a small portion of his spiritual aura which instantly filled the hallway with profound energy. It was so powerful that it was easy to guess that he had surpassed the Spirit Lord Realm. re
Long Yifei glanced at this person only briefly before bowing respectfully, "Sir immortal, Sister Wei."
She wanted to leave but the two blocked the way.
"Snow Fairy Long, I heard your singing while I was waiting. I have to say, your voice is truly one of a kind." Wu Chao said, also with a smile, "It filled my heart with warmth. I couldn't believe there was such a singer in this world. Our Millennium Mountains Campus is truly blessed."
Long Yifei felt very uncomfortable and didn't reply.
However, Wu Chao continued speaking, not caring about her reaction, "I wonder where your acolyte is. Shuangshuang tells me that he hasn't been seen in several months. That's highly irresponsible of him. Doesn't he know that it's almost the end-of-year exams? A country bumpkin will always be a country bumpkin. He will only realize what he has after he loses everything. I hope that won't come to pass but I am sure you already understand, these exams are not to be taken lightly. If the acolyte does not perform to expectations, then it doesn't matter how talented a sacred daughter is. She will still fail."
Long Yifei bit her tongue and didn't say anything. She merely gave Wu Chao a cold, impassive glare.
Seeing that he was getting no response, Wu Chao harrumphed and walked past her, with Wei Shuangshuang following. Wei Shuangshuang glanced at Long Yifei as she passed by, shooting her rival a smug, mocking smile.
After they disappeared into the practice room, Long Yifei let out a soft sigh. She turned and left, heading back to her room. If it was any other day, this encounter would have bothered her and made her unhappy. But today, she treated it as nothing but hot air.
That was because someone was waiting for her in her room. She smiled sweetly and her footsteps quickened.
