Chapter 7 - 06: Unwanted memories

Quill cultivated throughout the night and only stopped as he noticed the sun peeking through the gaps in the thatch roof.

"Morning already, I have to watch out, cultivating is a lot more addicting than what it appears." Quill said aloud as he began to turn his focus inward towards his Qi.

"Not bad, the blue planet has increased but what in the hell is with the other one!?!?" Quill thought as he witnessed what appeared to be faces of pure terror and agony floating around the surface of the black sphere only to erupt in a cloud of crimson mist and disappear below the surface as it orbited the star.

"Huh, piece of hell floating inside of me, never thought I would be able to cross that off a bucket list. The blue sphere is nearing the same size as the black one, I'm just going to call you planet Qi and you Mr. ball of sunshine can be called Hell Qi." Quill said as he sent one last glance at the black sphere of hell before looking towards what appeared to be a star.

"What might you be?" Quill said as he focused more on the star while everything else faded away.

"Ivan you monster!" A disconnected feminine voice resounded through Quills head as he began to flashback to his childhood.

"Devil child, drown him in the river!" An old wisened voice echoed throughout.

"No mommy don't let them hurt me!" A young Ivan squeaked out as he looked to the one person everyone should be able to, his mother.

"Worthless child, your no son of mine!" She yelled as she jerked away from Ivan, leaving him to the mercy of those around him.

Quill jerked awake and found himself drenched in sweat on the floor of his hut.

"That was my memories? But how? Was that my soul? Ha, jackasses let's see who you call a demon now? Atleast I can now prove I have a soul!" Quill said aloud as he slowly becam quiet as he realized he was no longer in his old world and would never be able to see his tormentors again.

"This isn't the same, I'm not going to let the same thing happen again." Quill swore as he raised himself onto unsteady legs and walked outside his hut only to find Auryon waiting on him.

"Quill! Are you okay?! There were screams coming from your hut?" Auryon said as she took in Quills haggard appearance.

"I'm fine, just a few bad dreams, there nothing to worry about." Quill said as he tried to dodge her inquiry.

"Quill, they heard at the other side of the village." Auryon said with concern to the man that had completely flipped her world around recently.

"It was a windy night, it was just the wind blowing through the trees." Quill said as he tried to come up with an excuse of what else the noise could have been.

"There wasn't any wind last night nor cloud in the sky, it was a perfect night." Auryon said as she began to worry about the impact that recent events have had on Quill.

"Your just hearing things." Quill said as he just completely shut down her inquiry.

"How long are you going to be living here in the outskirts of the village?" Auryon asked as she changed the subject after listening to Quills denials.

"We are going to be building better ones soon. I planned on moving after everyone else in the village had a better place to sleep without their roofs leaking and away from the wind that still seeps through the cracks here in the walls of these dingy huts." Quill said as went along with subject change.

"Do you want me to grab some of the villagers to go grab more sticks for the huts?" Auryon asked as she looked around his hut.

"Sticks?" Quill said as he realized why the hut was so dingy.

"Yes, what else would we use?" Auryon asked as if Quill grew a second head.

"Why would I ask them to bring logs here to the village?" Quill asked as he realized how much work was ahead of him.

"Firewood?" Auryon asked unable to understand what Quill had planned.

"Follow me!" Quill said as he lead Auryon to were the wood from yesterday was stored.

"Grab eight of those and come with us." Quill said to a group of villagers that were near the logs.He then lead Auryon near the large hut that the elders used.

"First thing we need is to make sure we can support the walls so when the logs get here we need to cut them to be around eight foot in length. Then we burry them two feet into the ground, two per each section to support the walls, after that we split each log in half and stack horizontally and seal the gaps with mud to block out the wind. Last we will lay the unsplit logs horizontally on top of the walls as support for the roof which will be split logs with mud to seal the gaps there as well." Quill said as he attempted to give as detailed instructions as he could to Auryon and the villagers that began to gather around.

"How do you know this?" Auryon asked as she looked at Quill differently than she had before.

"I know many things, after we finish building the new huts we can start building better tools and improve the village as much as we can." Quill said as he began to help out the villagers as the logs were brought over.

They worked throughout the day and finished the hut by nightfall and were only needing to build a decent floor for the hut, Quill decided to build a floor the same way as they did the roof.

"Good night everyone, we will finish this build tomorrow so that the elders will not have to worry about rough weather and then we will begin building everyone else a hut as well.

Quill made his way to his hut after his announcement.

"I never checked the system after last nights cultivation session." Quill said as he focused on the mysterious system inside of him.

Unbeknownst to Quill, the villagers went to sleep that night with something that they had not have in a long time, hope. Hope for the future and all the changes that Quill will bring.
