The dome-shaped membrane enclosing the continent and projecting its false sky towered tens of millions of kilometers overhead. Needless to say, its diameter could only be even greater.
The most eminent cartographers of the two civilizations, opposed in virtually every way, had never managed to measure it end to end with any precision, for reasons that needed no explanation. Some nevertheless ventured staggering figures, with the wildest estimates reaching several tens of millions of kilometers.
It begged the question of how either side managed to transport so many recruits, most barely faster than a horse, from tribes and cities scattered across their respective territories all the way to the front lines.
The answer came down to one word: evolution.
