At five o'clock in the morning, Chen Xu woke up feeling momentarily confused before he remembered that he had moved to a new place. He got out of bed, brushed his teeth, washed his face, put on his tracksuit, and took the elevator downstairs.
The sky was still dark, and the neighborhood was very quiet. Under the white glow of the street lights, not a single person could be seen.
He walked out of the complex and saw the security guard, who was huddled in the guardhouse on his phone, completely oblivious to Chen Xu passing by.
The early morning was the coldest time of day. Chen Xu breathed into his hands and started running along a small path next to the neighborhood.
This area was part of a high-end residential area with decent infrastructure. The road was narrow but flanked by green belts, and fences lined both sides. Every few meters, there was a streetlamp.
Running here, there was an unusual sense of tranquility, occasionally broken by a passing car.
