Chapter 3 - Later that day

*Lying in a bed with silken sheets was a young man. with hair white as fresh snow, and blood red eyes set in a gaunt face. the boy was much to skinny. He was currently alone in a room nearly empty, except for the bed and a simple wardrobe. There was a large window to one side, a single door leading somewhere unknown. the boy began to toss and turn something was happening inside his dreams*

"FUUUCK!" With a start I snapped straight up, grabbing at my chest with a start. every instinct in my body was screaming that I should be dead. But a little voice told me that the reason I wasn't was do to the magic I inherited from my mother. After all healing others was hard healing myself had long become second nature. I did a quick check of myself finding the new scare alongside many others. Six years in an orphanage looking as unique as i did doesn't exactly end well most of the time. I had to slip away pretty early on.

"Hush be more quite the boy needs his rest, and while we will be checking on his condition we need to be carful to not disturb him in his rest" an unfamiliar voice said while getting slowly closer to the door. Instinct kicked in from years living in the darkest corners of the kingdom kicked in.

*when the door opened two people walked in carefully speaking in low tones, and hidden against the carefully balancing on one of the ceiling beams in the room is Joan*

"Wait.. where is he?" the panic set in quick for the man in the coat holding the bag of tools, 'Sorry bud, I'm not sticking around long enough to figure out who you are or let you call the guards.' I rolled my shoulder, much like the new scar i felt perfectly healed, which was sending up about a thousand red flags right now. But it doesn't matter. My fathers voice slipped through my mind "My boy, our family has been around for hundreds of years. And throughout that time we have always been held as the example of Nobles and knightly Honor." Honor... Right a gutter rat thief like me has honor. Whatever, doesn't matter. What matters is that someone is trying to kill my lady. And while I might not be a knight... I know a thing or two. I jumped down and checked my right arm the ink sits exactly where i knew it should. My dagger was missing but... a smirk crept across my face as I slipped into the corridor. I was moving threw the place like it was my own home, hiding behind pillars leaping between rafters. Sneaking past guards, like they were blind. I had somewhere in mind. Some one had my dagger and I had an idea who it was.

*in a study within the palace... a older man sat at desk writing when some one knocked on his door* "Enter." He said and straitened his posture. The door opened showing an armed knight, "Sir, Its Respind... He's missing my king" This caused the king to pause, "Leave me." as soon as the door closed King Vernon stood and walked quickly to a case in the study, only to stop in his tracks. "Are you still in here my boy? To have snuck past me in my own home..." he said moving forward and placing his hand on the soft velvet of the open case.

*A young man sat leaning against a gargoyle, looking through a window while eating a sanwhich.*

'I bet King Vernon has found the letter I left in my the case where he had my mothers dagger.' The boy sighed deeply, Suddenly a female voice spoke from below him, "Are you truly planning to avoid everyone Joan?" I nearly jumped out of my skin, It had been years sense someone had said my name other than me let alone snuck up on me like that. Looking down I saw her Majesty the Queen, "I don't know what you mean my lady." She raised an eyebrow. "Really? and that's why the kitchen staff reported a thief swiped some food and my husband his trying to figure out how you got passed all his wards?" She laughed after saying that, "I mean truly, the letter was a nice touch, so you deem yourself unworthy of standing next to her in the light and instead plan to what? Become her shadow?" I looked away from her back to the window from before then I speak, " For six years I've tainted my families name... For six years I wasn't Joan respind. I was a ghost, I hid in plain sight. I stole from those who could afford it. I have no honor. And until I find that again. I will not walk among you like I belong their." And then I shifted, letting my body weight go over the side, falling right past where she stood leaning against a window, she nearly screamed as I went past her nearly nose to nose.

*A week later a bar in the blackmarket.*

"Hey did you hear?" " Hear what?" "About all those people keeping arrested, and even a couple nobles ended up getting assassinated..." Rumors always did spread faster here in the dredges of society. But one rumor was gaining popularity fast, "That damn demon struck again, Wiped out a whole guild just for even being asked to receive a request about the royal family." " I know... Its crazy man, where does a monster like that come from... " The notoriety of a "monster" was rising rapidly in the lower levels of society, for two reasons. One was the obvious connection to the royal family. The second was the level of destruction left behind. "Man I swear I was there right before the guards. Those poor bastards where torn apart! severed limbs everywhere it reminded me of that man... the storm sword! Duke Respind!"
