"Old Man, I'll go first!" Said Colbee.
"Please make your way to the ring contraption Mr. Bryant." Gestured Sir Contee.
The chubby kid walked towards the ring handles and grabbed them both. Soon after a humming noise started running and the ring started to vibrate.
"Ahhh!" Screamed Colbee, "This fricken hurts more than never seeing my father!
The needles had pierced through colbees hands.
In his agony, Colbee shouted,"small incision my ass!"
Soon Colbee's body began to glow red, his arms had the most intensity of red.
"Looks like he is a breaker. These are offensive type CE users." Noted Sir Contee.
"Move! Move! My body is telling me to move!" Yelled Colbee.
The machine pulled back its needles and Colbee let go of the ring and immediately started punching the air.
"My body is telling me to keep punching and moving."
Although he was punching, with every punch felt like it was getting stronger.
"The calamity energy that is activated is guiding the young man towards his foundational skill. It could be different for everyone." Explained Sir Contee.
Zeph and Sir Contee watched for the next 20 minutes as Colbee continued to punch. When he was finally done, Colbee said "Momentum Chain" and passed out.
"Looks like his foundational skill is momentum based and every subsequent attack becomes stronger. I predict he will be a excellent front line fighter in the future." Noted Sir Contee.
"As you can see it feels like the calamity energy has a mind of its own when it awakens. The Momentum Chain foundational skill was created from a biological instinct that was awakened when Colbee was injected with the calamity energy. Calamity energy will ultimately guide you to what it thinks is the optimal way for your body to grow. "
"Excuse me sir, you said Colbee is a breaker can you expand on that?" Asked Zeph.
"Sure, of those who have calamity energy, you can say there are job roles and classifications. Breakers are your offensive force, they are the front liners. When they use calamity energy. Defenders are your defensive orientated calamity energy users. Shapers are battlefield controllers, they can manipulate enemies or control the environment. Conduits provide a team or individual with support either through healing or enhancements. Last, phantoms are those who have stealth or perception based skills. Since Colbee glowed red after the injection, we can infer that he is a breaker. And since his arms were more intensely red than anywhere else on his body, one can infer his foundational skill would be related to his arms."
"Are foundational skills tied to a single body part? " asked Zeph.
"Yes, Usually the foundation skill is tied to the location which most of the CE is concentrated at. It can be anywhere within the body. The legs, arms, eyes, torso, mouth, nose, head, fingers"
"Sir, is it possible to have a foundational skill that is not one of the five?" Asked Zeph
"There are indeed rare ocasions of this. Ryde, from the strava team has the foundational skill named "Endless Engine", Ryde's skill is stamina based and he will continuously be able to get up and never tire. Hence why he has the nickname of King of Hard Work. Then there is Wyze from the newly promoted Condor heroes, His foundational skill is called "Save Point". He can record a moment in time and return to it, this includes location, physical state, and condition. A third example being Dranz Raynor, his skilled called "Sovereign Gravity allows for him to control gravity in a certain radius. These three people have unique skills that dont necessarily fit the 5 affinity combo, so we call them Specialists since they are anomalies. These are some of the known specialized foundational skills. It is also possible that a previous affinity evolves to a specialized skill through growth as well, but that situation is extremely rare."
"Thank you for the information sir!" Replied Zeph.
"Mr. Fulgram, lets get your friend moved to a recovery room and clean the injector before we proceed with your injection. The constellation union will also record his data for analysis and record keeping." Instructed Sir Contee as he pushed a red button on the wall.
Two attendants came in with a stretcher and quickly attended to Colbee who was still passed out on the floor. They picked up Colbee, placed him on a stretcher and moved him to the infirmary for rest.
Sir Contee walked up to the device and cleaned it up for Zeph to use. After he was done cleaning the device he instructed Zeph to walk up and place his hands on the machine.
After seeing the amount of pain Colbee experienced Zeph was a bit nervous.
'No Pain No Gain' Zeph told himself.
He placed his hands on the injector device. The machine began to vibrate and start up.
"Holy shit!" Zeph screamed as the injector needles pierced through his hands.
Zeph could feel his cells igniting. He could feel the heat rise behind his eyes.
'This must be a eye based skill' was his firth thought.
His eyes began to tear up. And then his vision blurred. He saw white as his vision blanked. And then he regained his vision, and saw that he was looking at himself. Zeph noticed he was looking up at himself.
'Whoa this is a weird perspective ' he thought. He then blinked and his vision shifted back to himself. Zeph then let go of the injector machine as the needles had retracted.
He looked at where his hands were holding the injector and saw a green colored eye symbol on the spot, and suddenly the skill name just popped into his head and it just felt right to say it. "Vision Link".
Zeph immediately saw black and passed out on the spot. The green glow on the injector faded away.
"Vision Link he said huh.. his eyes lit green so he is a conduit. I wonder what kind of foundational skill it is. I'll just document it and send it to the union. There is no unuseful eye skill" Sir Contee thought to himself.
