"Brother, I beg you…" Edward said, trembling.
"Farewell, brother. Farewell," Jed said.
When Edward looked up again, the man had disappeared.
A great hole in his heart, a true hollowness. What was left?
He knew not.
He let go a breath, and then determined never to breathe again. There was no point in it.
The one anchor for all his suffering, the one thing he had to cling to faded entirely away.
He crumbled forward on the bench, lying down, completely unmoving.
"A rare trick," the old man mumbled, wandering over. "Not a trace of mana to it. Still realms, it seems, beyond my comprehension."
Edward did not move.
"How long are you going to lie there, knight?" He said, prodding him with the end of his staff. "Your comrade took his own life, so that his spirit could meet with you, and you're simply going to sit there and die? It is none of my business, but I do think you to be a rather pathetic thing."
"Leave me alone, comrade."
