Burning the image of the Blood Being into his mind, Hayden made sure to remember every detail of its appearance in case he ever encountered it again.

He could feel scratches all over his body from where the sticks had fallen on him. Some of the leaves might have cut him as well, reminding him just how vulnerable he was in this world.

Carefully lifting his head a little higher, Hayden realised just how close he'd come to death. The tree trunk had crashed into the ground only a few inches above his head. If it had landed any closer, his head might have been crushed.

The only thing that had saved him from being killed by the Blood Being was the cover provided by the leaves.

{Well, at least I got something out of all this shit. That extra stamina could come in handy in the morning. But what do I do now? If I move, will I die?}

Luckily for Hayden, the Blood Being had only been drawn to the light. However, that didn't mean his surroundings were safe.

Carefully crawling out from beneath the mess of sticks and leaves piled on top of him, Hayden tried not to make any unnecessary noise. The last thing he wanted was to attract anything else that looked like it had crawled straight out of hell.

Once he was free, Hayden realised he couldn't keep living like this. He needed to get stronger and could no longer afford to mess around. He had to figure out how his status worked, how to improve his abilities, and whether skills existed that could help him survive.

After his sleep had been interrupted by his shelter collapsing on top of him, Hayden sat down to think about how he could become stronger and what effect doing so might have on his body.

Back in his old world, humans had physical limits. There was only so much strength a person could develop through training. But what about here?

How strong could he become in a world with a system?

{Considering this place has gaming qualities, I'm going to assume my limits depend on how the status system works. Maybe I can reach a maximum of ten levels, with three points being the maximum stat value for each level, and skills are the only way to increase my power beyond that.}

He paused for a moment.

{But there's no point guessing when I can try to get some actual results first. Let's start by making an improvised weapon. Although, to be honest, I know shit about making weapons. I could find some rocks to throw at anything I consider a threat and sharpen a stick into a spear. Nothing too complicated, you know? Hopefully, it'll be enough to threaten anything around my level.}

Hayden began searching the area for suitable sticks. He picked up a few and tested them against nearby trees, looking for one sturdy enough to withstand an impact without snapping.

He also picked up a couple of fist-sized stones and shoved them into his pockets.

Congratulations! You have unlocked Inventory.

Since you currently only have two pockets, you have two item slots available. Items above your strength level cannot be placed in your inventory.

Please note that the maximum weight capacity depends on the material of your storage. Stronger materials may allow greater weights to be carried.

Current slots: 2 (Jean pockets)

Material: Denim

Maximum carry weight: 10 kilograms

Warning: Exceeding this limit may tear your pockets and potentially destroy your trousers.

"What the fuck? Are you serious? You're now telling me that if I put something too heavy in my pocket, I could destroy my fucking pants? Like, really?"

{I guess with this world being like a game, nothing will make fucking sense around here.}
