Prison of Eternal Sky: I am both a God and a Slave
Fallen_H1ero
Stranded. Enslaved. Lost.
Mathew Dredon is stuck, in more ways than one, with no way home. The land around him is dangerous and strange, filled with divine artifacts and monsters born from darkness.
Forced into a body that's not his own by a mysterious beings with godlike powers, Mathew is left to search for answers.
He struggles relentlessly against the chains that bind him, any hope of returning home dwindling.
Only by unlocking the secrets of this new land does he stand a chance of survival.
Perhaps swallowing an unknowable cosmic entity was a questionable decision...
Welcome to my first webnovel, Prison of Eternal Sky! Here are some things about the setting and story, but some go into soft-spoiler territory so I don't mind if you skip it.
PoES is a Portal Fantasy/Isekai/Transmigration Novel, that isn't exactly classic fantasy (no elves or dwarfs, but maybe a dragon or two) It will dip into cosmic horror and grimdark a bit here and there, but won't be as dark as my other writings.
There will be some direct references to the works of Lovecraft and Shakespeare here and there.
In this setting, Gods are real and scheming, and the magic system and everything about it directly relates to each God. This hopefully will make it intuitive and easy to understand.
This is NOT a progression fantasy story. The way the magic system works, there are not really clear ways to get stronger. Because of that progression will be non-linear, and the story will be more about discovering the lore and learning more about the world, and character development(And hopefully some cool character arcs)
Now for some Q&A! (minor spoilers ahead)
Q: How long is PoES?
The story will go on for somewhere between 350 and 400 chapters, broken into 4 separate arcs (80+ chapters each).
Q: How many POVs?
At least 90% of the story will be told from the perspective of the MC, Mathew. There will be some other POVs in the story, usually to introduce a character or give extra context, but it won't be too often.
Q: Is there a Female Lead?
Technically, yes.
Ophelia will be getting a lot of screen time. Her arc is also very integral to the story. Often however, she will be positioned as more of an antagonist and foil to the main character.
Q: Is there Romance?
There is no romance plot planned for Mathew, at least not one that results in an actual romance. There are going to be romantic relationships and plot points related to these relationships, but they will be for side characters, not the MC.
Q: Is the Protagonist Over Powered?
I would say technically no. Mathew himself, or the body he has, is quite competent in specific areas, and has some useful powers, but most of the crazy potential comes from the Catastrophe Mathew traps inside himself, and it is not something he will be able to access on a whim for most of the story.
So my question to you is, do you consider Yuji to be overpowered because he has Sukuna trapped within him? if you do then I guess you could say Mathew is overpowered.
Q: Why isn't this Progression Fantasy?
The way the magic system works, there isn't a clear way to progress linearly in power. There are also not going to really be plots related to growing in power, its more a plot of discovery and mystery.
In this world, either you are born with strong magic, are gifted strong magic by someone, or find some really strong magical artifact somewhere. You can gather magical gifts and artifacts, but each magical ability itself is locked firmly in the Tier System however, and will not change in potency.
